Chapter 155

Bill was first licensed in 1952 as a Novice with the call WN2LRA. He upgraded to General Class a year later, losing the 'N'. He was an avid home-brewer using war surplus parts garnered from Cortland Street, a short subway ride from his Brooklyn, NY home. His ham activities faded away during family-raising years following graduate school, but were jolted back front and center when his career path took him to Silicon Valley, a mecca for home-brewers and a hotbed of ham activity. Bill renewed his lapsed license as AD6JV in 1999. He moved to Albemarle County in 2002 and joined Albemarle Amateur Radio Club, of which he served on the Board of Directors for several years and is currently chairman of its Education Committee. He has been Emergency Coordinator for Albemarle County. He became Chapter 155 Vice-President in 2010.
