Chapter 110

Fun parts of the hobby are my High Altitude Balloon Investigating Testing And Tracking (HABITAT SkyLab) Sky Lab. We have been sending HiBalls, carrying variou ham payloads, since 1997. I may create another web page since all mine have gone away.

After over 45 years of model rocketry (yea I started way back in the early 60s, about the time my interest in ham radio began) Ihave entered mid-power and high-power rocketry. I now have my Level2 certification from both NAR and Tripoli. L1: my rocket was a modified AeroTech Initiator, with electronics payload bay, reached 2,428 feet altitude, on a H128,as recorded by the onboard altimeter. Recovery in tall grass/weeds.

AE0D - Donald A. 'Don' Pfister I completed my L2 Certification in HPR, Saturday June 25, 2011. In the photo right I am preparing my modified Madcow Big Fizz for launch with a CTI J285 motor. I flew my Altus Telemetrum (reported altitude 2744 feet), GPS Altimeter tracker (440 band), for the first time on this flight.

My L3 project is on the board. I had signed up for the L3 Miss Riley Project drag race (http://www.dutchrocketboys.nl/index.php/projects?catid=0&id=22) at LDRS 30 here in KS. I had planned this to be my L3 Cert flight. This flight was scheduled for Saturday afternoon Sept 3, 2011. (Check LDRS 30 at science channel) at LDRS XXX in September over labor day week. Unfoturnately, I did not get to fly then. Possibly some time in the future.

The photo is my first sky jump the day after my 56th birthday, Nov. 4,2006. I jumped a second time the following March. Lots of fun. A radio, GPS (APRS), and ATV would just make it complete. ;-)

I am just getting started in HSMM-MESH, my node shows on map at hsmm-mesh.org. Some of us in the KC metro are trying to get an active hsmm-mesh network going. This should be a good thing for community/public service.
