Amnon Bar Giora, 4X1DF , also known as Karl-Heinz Graetzer, HB9JAI , died at the end of October 2016 at the age of 93 .

He was born in Berlin in 1923, emigrated to British Palestine in 1938, and settled in Kibbutz North. An Australian member of British troops introduced him to the secrets of amateur radio, and Amnon's first brand was ZC6AZ in 1946. In 1948, he was a co-founder of the Israeli organization IARC and received a 4X4DF concession. In 1960, he worked for Mossad in search of Josef Mengele in South America. Amnon found him in Paraguay, but failed to deport him to Israel. In 1962-66 he worked as a member of the Mossad in the role of commander of the guard of King Haile Selassie in Ethiopia and there he had the ET3AZ brand. In 1967-73 he worked as a sales representative in France, Switzerland, Germany and Israel. From that time came his brands HB9JAI, DK9IE and the name Karl-Heinz Graetzer. He retired in 1973 but continued to work. In the nineties, Vlado met him on a business trip to Switzerland, OM1HI and Amnon began to visit Slovakia, especially Tatra meetings . He became a member of SZR and OTC SARA no. 57. In 1998 he organized the DX expedition 3B7RF and in 2001 he was the manager of 3B6RF. He worked mostly on CW bands and ran the "Shabat Net" 20m network for 30 years. In 2008, he was elected honorary president of the Israeli Amateur Radio Club.
