Raymond E. Andrews, 84, died Monday, March 2, 2009, at Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City.He was born June 2, 1924, on the family farm in Gray County, to William B. and Stella J. Hoskinson Andrews.

A lifetime resident of Finney and Gray counties, Mr. Andrews farmed until he was injured in a farm accident in 1954. He later attended rehabilitation for the blind in Topeka. He attended Pierceville Federated Church in Pierceville, was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and was a member of Sandhills Amateur Radio Club and Quarter Century Wireless Association.

On Sept. 19, 1959, he married Marilyn J. Roehrman in Garden City. She survives. Other survivors include a son, Darrin E. Andrews of Pierceville; a daughter, Lorna Rae Brown of Syracuse; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Marlin W. Andrews; a sister, Beatrice Wasson; and two brothers, William and Hugh Andrews.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Pierceville Federated Church, with the Rev. Terry Major officiating. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City.
