Wenona, IL - Donald W. Hoge, 84, of 827 East Illinois Route 17, Wenona, died at 12:23 a.m. July 19, 2008, at BroMenn Healthcare in Normal.Mr. Hoge was born in rural Wenona on Aug. 17, 1923, to Roy H. and Stella B. Shaw Hoge. He married Ruth Dehm on Nov. 27,1949.He farmed all his working life, retiring in 1988.

Mr. Hoge served with the National Guard for several years.

He was a member of and on the church council of the Zion Lutheran Church in Wenona.He was an amateur ham radio operator, with the call sign K9vwx.

Mr. Hoge is survived by his wife, Ruth of Wenona; one daughter, Rita (Dave) Houchin of Bloomington; two sons, Terry (Jan) Hoge of Wenona and Howard Hoge of Dana; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Frieda Wenzlaff of Wenona; and one sister-in-law, Josephine Hoge of Streator.

He was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.Pallbearers will be Rob and Dakota Houchin, William Carver, Scott Hoge, Jerry Kuehn and Ken Nenne.

Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
