Shreveport (LA) Times (Jan. 2, 2011)Dr. Fleater Palmer Jr.SHREVEPORT, LA - Dr. Palmer met our Lord on Wednesday, December 29, 2010. He was born in Blackburn, LA on February 10, 1922 in his rural home.His father and mother, Dr. Fleater Palmer, Sr. and Zella Pirkle Palmer; brothers, James Palmer, a Commander in the U.S. Navy, and Jack Palmer, a 30-year veteran of the U.S. Air force, preceded Dr. Palmer in death.Dr. Palmer did his undergraduate work at the University of Tennessee and graduated from L.S.U. Medical School in New Orleans. He began his medical career in the United States Army and practiced medicine in Shreveport for 50 years. He was an avid painter, photographer, held advanced license in Ham Radio, raised cattle in south Bossier Parish and enjoyed quail hunting and fishing. Dr. Palmer was a member of Broadmoor United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his loving wife, Virginia Turner Palmer; son, James Turner Palmer and wife, Sheri; granddaughters, Elizabeth Ashley Palmer and Nicole Palmer Hochenedel and husband, Jay; great granddaughter, Harper Ashley Hochenedel; daughter, Diane Rosalee; grandson, Drake Rosalee; granddaughter, Shalom Jones; and great- grandchildren, Lexie Jones and Chase Jones.The family would like to thank Argent Trust and his caregivers, Mary Banks, Georgia Robison, Sharon Hicks, and Shirley PlaterGraveside services celebrating the life of Dr. Palmer will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 3, 2011, at Arlington Cemetery, Homer, LA.
