Chapter 28
First Call: KN2UDE in 1954       Other Call(s): N3GRC

Ronald C. Leonard, 89, of Brackney, PA, entered into eternal rest on Monday, September 5, 2022.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Karen, and three beloved daughters -- Pamela (George) PiBurn of Belen, NM, Brenda (Tom) Dotts of Vista, CA, and Gail (Ed) Burrell of Owego, NY, plus 4 grandchildren and 4 great grand children, numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Ronald David Leonard, a sister, Carol Argetsinger, and his parents, Dorrance and Collette Leonard.

Ron took an early retirement after 32 years with IBM as an electrical engineer, and toward the end of his career, worked in laser technology. A fascinating, complex tapestry of a man, Ron's interests were many and varied, especially anything electrical or mechanical. For many years, he maintained his amateur radio (HAM) operator's license. A lover of dogs, he had many canine companions over his lifetime. In his thirties, he held a pilot's license for small aircraft, and enjoyed working with Boy Scout troops. A member of several local Masonic organizations, he was a past Grand Master of the Round Hill Lodge in Endicott, NY. There were fun years where he played the trumpet, baritone, and Alpine horn in two different dance bands, though his greatest joy was singing. Over the years, he was active in the Owego Choral Society, the IBM Chorus, The Montrose Harmony Men, and was a 26 year member of the Binghamton Southerntiersmen Barbershop Chorus. His rich, mellow bass voice added much to performances with the Southernteirsmen and numerous quartets. Ron was so special ...a good listener, a fine friend. His life made a difference in the lives of all of us who knew and loved him.

The family will receive friends at the Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango Street, Port Dickinson, NY, on Saturday, October 1, 2022 from 1-2pm. A Memorial Service will follow at 2pm. Interment to be in the Quaker Lake Cemetery, Brackney, PA at the convenience of the family. In his memory, please consider monetary donations to The Food Pantry, c/o Rosalynd Perlick, 7070 Laurel Lake Road, Brackney, PA 18812
