Dr Thayer Kingsley "T.K." Morrow Jr., of Greensburg, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2004, in Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg.

He was born in 1924 in Peoria, Il, a son of the late Thayer K. and Lois Morrow.

Prior to retirement, Dr Morrow was director of pathology and laboratory services at Westmoreland Regional Hospital.

He graduated from Stanford University with a BS degree in chemistry and earned his doctor of medicine degree from Tulane University Medical School. He served his internship and internal medicine residency at Charity Hospital in New Orleans. Dr Morrow later served a residency in pathology at the University of Pennsylvania Medical School Hospital.

He served in the US Marine Corps and was a veteran of the Korean War [Korean service medal].

Dr Morrow founded the first Westmoreland Hospital School of Certified Laboratory Assistants in 1967. In 1970, he established and directed the Blood Bank at Westmoreland Regional Hospital. He was an emeritus fellow of the College of American Pathologists, and a member of the American Medical Association, the Pennsylvania Medical Society and the Westmoreland County Medical Society.

Dr Morrow was an active member of the community and supporter of the arts. He was president of the Westmoreland County Chapter of the American Cancer Society and later was regional director. He served on the board of directors of Greensburg Savings and Loan Association, the Westmoreland Museum of American Art, Rotary Club of Greensburg and The Westmoreland Symphony.

Dr Morrow was a member of the American Radio Relay League and spent hours communicating with other hams around the world. He was a skilled builder and woodworker, a gentleman with myriad hobbies. Dr Morrow was a loving husband and devoted father.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert W. Morrow, M.D. He is survived by his wife, Judith Morrow; two children, son Jeff and wife, Tomoko Morrow, of Kumamoto, Japan, and daughter Heather and Peter Egan, of Cincinnati, Ohio; and three grandchildren, Sean and Miko Morrow and Lilly Egan. He is also survived by nephew, Gary and Barbara Morrow; and two nieces, Beth and Sean Parman, and Katherine Stewart.

Family and friends will be received Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the KEPPLE-GRAFT FUNERAL HOME INC, 524 N Main St, Greensburg.

A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 300 S Main St, Greensburg, Saturday at 10:30 am with the Rev. Martin Ankrum officiating. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Westmoreland Regional Hospital Foundation, 446 W Pittsburgh St, Greensburg; First Presbyterian Church of Greensburg; or the charity of one's choice.
