A ceremony celebrating the life of Mr. Woody Farris will be held at 2pm Saturday at Judson Baptist Church Walker; visitation will begin on Friday at the church at 6 pm until 9 pm with a Masonic Service at 7 pm; visitation will resume on Saturday at 11 am until time of the service; interment with Military Rites will follow at the church cemetery. Mr. Farris was born on November 21, 1947 in Baton Rouge, LA to the union of Willie and Ophie Jones Farris and departed from this life on Wednesday April 9, 2014 at Promise Hospital at the age of 66 years. He was a resident of Denham Springs; a member of Judson Baptist Church; Teamsters Local 5; Livingston Amateur Radio Club the Livingston Masonic Lodge where he was a 32nd Degree Mason, Eastern Star and the Scottish Rite Valley of Baton Rouge; he enjoyed electronics, computers, extra class ham radio operator and fishing. He had a passion for his family and will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandpa, great grandpa, brother and friend. He was the great grandson of the first town marshall of Denham Springs and his family reaches back to 1869 as residents of Livingston Parish.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Willie Jr, Alvin, David and Ronald Farris. Survivors include his wife Anna Lou Massey Farris; daughers Shelia Farris Arnold (Donald), Juanita Farris Tompley (Jason) and Melissa Farris Hutton (Scott); his son W. J. "J" Farris Jr (Wendy Goebel); brother Barry Farris Sr; also survived by 15 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and two more greats that are due to arrive in August 2014.
