Grant Clarke Heimbecker passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at the age of 81 years.

Born in Calgary, Grant attended Sunalta School, and Western Canada High School. He then attended University of British Columbia where he obtained a Bachelor of Commerce Degree. His working career led him to Canada Gulf Oil and Pan American Petroleum in production and accounting. Later, he became quite involved in the Calgary real estate industry. An avid hiker and traveler, Grant spent his spare time with skyline hikers and was often found exploring earth's many different cultures. A life long member of the Calgary Amateur Radio Association, Grant very much enjoyed checking in with the Caratels every Tuesday afternoon.

Grant is survived by his two children, Nancy and her husband Mark and Robert both of Vancouver, B.C., his two grandchildren, Connor and Kelsey and a brother Raymond (MD) of Collingwood, ON. Grant was predeceased by his wife Betty in 2007 and a brother Donald in 2004.

A Service in Celebration of Grant's life will be held at the St. Laurence Anglican Church (5940 Lakeview Drive S.W.) on Monday, April 30, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at the Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent in Grant's memory to the Calgary Health Trust, (Carewest Sarcee Hospice Attention Marney) 3504 Sarcee Road S.W., Calgary, AB, T3E 4T4.
