-son of Stephen and Kathryn (Kaczynski) Mierzejewski
-grew up in Meriden and worked there until moving to Middletown with his family in 1956
-original member of St. Pius X Church
-member of the Holy Name Society where he used his technical skills to care for the audio systems

Prior to his retirement, he was a senior designer in engineering and transmissions with Northeast Utilities

Ed had a lifelong love of amateur radio (W1FUW) and all things electronic. He spent his retirement years enjoying life with his wife and family, especially during the summers that were filled with grandchildren in the pool and lots of time in his gardens.

During his life he participated in many organizations, including being a member and past president of the Connecticut Chapter of IEEE, (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), a 75 year member of the American Radio Relay League, Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, a member of St. John.s Lodge of Middletown and of the Shriner.s Sphinx Temple of Newington. -survived by his loving sons, Thomas Mierz and his wife Kathy, Martin Mierz and his wife Linda, and William Mierz; his loving daughters, Barbara McAuliffe and her husband James, and Beverly Domingue and her husband John; a brother, Stephen Mierz; eleven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; also several nieces and nephews

-predeceased by his first grandchild, Deborah Mierz

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. from Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown, followed by a 10 a.m. Funeral Liturgy at St. Pius X Church, Middletown. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
