On August 23, 2011, William M. Gatton, Sr, of Glen Burnie, MD, passed away peacefully at age 95.

Mr. Gatton served in the US Army Air Corps from 1942-1945 and continued service in the Reserves. He was a Lt. Colonel in the Civil Air Patrol and assisted in numerous search and rescue missions. He was an avid amateur (Ham) radio operator W3QFF.

He was employed as an Electronic Engineer for Westinghouse for 25 years. He was a member of the American Legion (Post 40), AARP, Glen Burnie Improvement Association, Sons of Severn and the Quarter Century Wireless Association (Ham radio). He had a long standing relationship with Christ Lutheran Church and Holy Trinity Catholic Church.

The family will receive visitors at the family owned Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, PA, 1 2ND Avenue SW (at Crain Highway), Glen Burnie, on Friday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm. A funeral mass will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Catholic Church on Saturday at 9:30 AM. Interment Glen Haven Memorial Park.
