James Ervin Miskelly, 91, resident of 109 Locksley Drive, husband of Mary Roark Hughes Miskelly, died Saturday, February 06, 2016 at Self Regional Medical Center.

Born in York, SC, August 25, 1924, he was a son of the late David E. and Carrie Chavis Miskelly. He was a US Army Veteran of World War II having earned Battle Stars for the Battle for Northern France and for the Battle of the Bulge. Mr. Miskelly was a 1950 graduate of the University of South Carolina and retired from Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. after over 25 years with the company.

A member of St. Mark United Methodist Church, Mr. Miskelly was also a member of the American Legion Post #20, VFW Post #8131, Metropolitan Life Veteran's Association, Quarter Century Wireless Association and Beaver Creek Indian Tribe. He was an avid builder and flyer of Radio Controlled Model Airplanes having constructed and flown what is believed to be the first RC Airplane in South Carolina on July 23, 1952 at the Newberry County Airport.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Tuesday from the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Carl Hunsucker officiating.

Private burial with Military Honors will be in Lakeview Memory Gardens in York following the service.The family is at the home in Locksley Hall and will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 Tuesday morning.Blyth Funeral Home
