Mr. Charles "Chuck" H. Brydges passed away Sunday, November 18th with his wife by his side. The son of Nellie Faye and Jasper Bunyan 'Buck' Brydges, he was born in Shelby NC.

After graduating from Central High in Charlotte, he chose to enlist in the US Army and participated in the Korean Conflict. Following a stay in Walter Reed Army hospital for nearly eighteen months, he joined the US State Department and served as a communications officer with many tours overseas and in Washington DC.

While in DC, he attended the Capitol Radio Electronics Institute (CREI) and met the love of his live, Judi. They traveled the world together with their two sons. Chuck had a passion for HAM (Amateur) Radio and served as section communications manager for the NC chapter of the American Radio Relay League for many years. He also held a number of offices for Chapter 126 of the Quarter Century Wireless Association.

Related volunteer work involved connecting many missionaries serving in remote parts of the world with their families in the US.

In addition to his wife Judi of 57 years and two sons Dean and Mark, Chuck is survived by a sister and bother-in-law Shelly and Bill Moran, and many cousins including Dr. Glenn Grayson, Mary Pett, Claire Gillespie, Richard Thompson, and Scott Smith.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the VA, Hospice of Davie County and the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Facility for assisting Chuck through a challenging but rewarding end of life journey.

They request that any memorials be made to these worthy organizations.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 26th at 2pm at Frank Vogler & Sons Clemmons Chapel, located at 2849 Middlebrook Drive.
