He joined the Air Force in 1950 where he trained to be an airplane mechanic, he was later stationed in Newfoundland during the Korean War. After his military service he returned to Dallas, TX where he had completed some of his military schooling. Bob Jones was an avid Ham Radio operator (call letters W5SYU) and a licensed Radio Amateur. He was licensed for well over 50 years. Right up to his death he always had his radioâs right with him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Melvin Jones, his mother, Florence Jones, his wife Mary Buford Jones and his brother-in-law Max E Terrill. He is survived by his sister, Mildred M.
