Jose Luis Cordero, Sr. 77, of Woodville, Texas died Saturday, Oct. 25, 1997 at his residence. Funeral services were Sunday at 4 p.m. in the Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home Chapel in Woodville with burial in Magnolia Cemetery in Woodville. Officiating at the services was Deacon Paul Rachal.

Serving as pallbearers were Jose L. Cordero, Jr., Rafael A. Cordero, Carlos Cordero, and John McCaw.

He was a native of Ponce, Puerto Rico and was a long time resident of Woodville. He was retired as an employment counselor with the Texas Employment Commission and was a member of the Our Lady of the Pines Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife, Carmen A. Cordero of Woodville; sons and daughters-in-law, Jose L. and Debbie Cordero, Jr., Rafael A. and Ellen Cordero all of Spring, and Carlos M. and Cindy Cordero of Nashville, TN.; daughters and son-inlaw, Carmen C. and John McCaw and Teresa C. Jones all of Garden Ridge, TX; and eleven grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Tyler County Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship Fund, Woodville, Texas.
