Richard lived his early years in New York City until joining the military in 1938. He served his country proudly as a U.S. Marine, retiring in 1959 as a Master Sergeant. He fought in the South Pacific during World War II and again during the Korean Conflict, earning many decorations and commendations. After his career at Rockwell, he established his own business, installing and maintaining burglar alarm systems.

Richard was a lifelong Amateur Radio Operator (HAM), first becoming licensed at the age of 13. He was among a select few to earn No. 1 Honor Roll award, having spoken to over 300 countries.

He was preceded in death by his lovely wife, Laura in 2010.
