Interment will be at the Mt. Morrison Cemetery in Mammoth Lakes for 15 year Mammoth Lakes resident Bavard "Sam" Lalande.

Born in Bakersfield on June 24, 1928, Sam died on Jan 29, 2005 in Bishop. He was 76.

Sam began traveling to Mammoth Lakes 65 years ago, in the late 30s, where he stayed with his parents in a cabin on Sherwin Creek. In the years to come he was very involved with different volunteer organizations on the mountain, including ski patrol in 1955, ski hosting from 1990-1997. Mono County Search and Rescue from 1991-1997 and HAM radio, which associated with the sheriff's department (RACES).

Sam is survived by his wife of 45 years, Louise; son, John of Austin, Texas; daughter, Linda Camilleri of Fairfield and four grandchildren, Joseph, Christopher, Tyler and Rylee.
