He was promoted to Engineer Status in 1951. He was then promoted to Design Squad Leader in 1958 and to Assistant Field Engineer in 1985. He retired Dec 1, 1991 with 43.5 years of service.

Ken was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend to many. He is survived by his son Mark Kruger (Michelle Longhurst) of Lansing, daughter Rebecca (Alan) Haight of Burt Lake, MI. Loving grandchildren; Jennifer (Charlie) Carpenter, Michael (Heather) Haight and Liliya (Ben) Britten, great-grandchildren Kaitlyn and Evan Carpenter, Dylan and Macie Haight, Zoie and Fin Britten. After retiring, Ken enjoyed working with Mark down at the shop. He was such an asset and joy to work with that the name of the business was unofficially changed to A Building Company and Dad. He was there to lend a hand when needed including supplying freshly baked chocolate chip cookies and QD doughnuts.

He will also be remembered for making awesome sweet pickles and caramel corn. Ken had many interests and hobbies throughout his lifetime. He worked with model trains, collected stamps, coins and he spent years putting the family genealogy in order. His passion for the last fifty years was the ham radio. Most days and nights you could find Ken down in the basement in his radio man-cave. He thoroughly enjoyed communicating with friends and new contacts around the world. He won numerous operating awards and his call: W8AAX, will be missed on the wave lengths.

Ken was dependable, unassuming and had a quiet strength about him. He was fiercely independent and was known to have a heart of gold. He will be greatly missed.
