Robert F. Ellsworth, 95, of Monticello died at 10:30 pm, Sunday, May 26, 2013 at IU Health White Memorial Hospital.

He was born March 19, 1918 in Goodland to the late Austin and Clarice (Marchino) Ellsworth. His marriage was to Laura Schuster on September 2, 1940 at the St. Joseph Catholic in Kentland. She preceded him in death April 10, 1966.

He was a 1937 graduate of Goodland High School and a veteran of the United States Navy serving in Okinawa. He was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church. Mr. Ellsworth was manager for A&P grocery from which he retired after 44 years of service. Mr. Ellsworth was a member of the VFW and American Legion in Monticello. His lifelong hobby was spent as an amateur radio operator and his call numbers were W9JFF. He was also an amateur wood worker.

He is survived by two sons, Jim Ellsworth of Punta Gorda, FL, David (Becky) Ellsworth of Frankfort; three daughters, Joyce (Steve) Brooke of Brookston, Susan (Marvin) Reeves of Birmingham, AL, Debra (Pat) Hrdy of Birmingham, AL; brother, William Ellsworth of Wisconsin; sister, Mary Ellen Hollingsworth of Goodland; thirteen grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 10 am to 11 am, Wednesday, May 29 at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 am at the church with Father Gerald Borwaski celebrating.

Burial will follow at Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery in rural Monticello with full military rites.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to the American Legion Post #81. Envelopes will be available at the church.

The receiver(on left) appears to be a National NC-173. The Transmitter(on right) appears to be a very early Johnson Viking II with the rack mounting and heavy black crackle finish on the case. The Bug looks like a Vibroplex.
