Alexandria - A Mass of Christian Burial for Guy A. Navarro will be held Monday, January 24, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church with Rev. Chad Partain officiating. Interment will be held in the Northwest Veterans Cemetery in Keithville, LA under the direction of John Kramer & Son Funeral Home.

Major Guy A. Navarro, USAF, Ret., 88, of Alexandria, passed away Tuesday, January 18, 2022, in his Alexandria residence. He was born in Port-Lyautey (now Kenitra), Morocco, on November 26, 1933, son of the late Albert R. Navarro and Laure-Reine Geoffroy.

He immigrated to the United States in 1951 and retired as a Major from the US Air Force in 1973, having served in Alaska, Spain and Morocco, as well as in Massachusetts, Texas, Nebraska and California. He was a Missile Launch Control Officer, certified in the Minuteman II and the Blue Scout Junior. At the time he retired, he was in charge of Missile Test Scheduling at Vandenberg Air Force Base.

He received his BA degree from Louisiana College and his MA from USL. He managed the Rapides Parish Coliseum from 1981 to 1990. He taught French and Mathematics at Alexandria Senior High School and French at the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts. He retired in 1999.

A member of St. Rita Catholic Church, he had been an active member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, where he served for many years as Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, Lector, and Catechist. He had also been a member of the choir.

He was preceded in death by his wife Millie in 2015, and two brothers, Armand and Albert "Chris" Navarro.

Survivors include his son, Major Guy A. Navarro, Jr., USAF, Ret., of Longview, Texas; two daughters, Pauline Navarro Russ of Felton, California, and Nadine Navarro of Shreveport; three grandchildren, Kyle, Ryan and David Russ-Navarro of Felton, California; three brothers, Raymond Paul of Pineville, Robert (Bob) Paul of Lecompte and Patrick Paul of Alexandria.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Guy's name may be made to Holy Angels, 10450 Ellerbe Rd., Shreveport, LA. 71106.
