QCWA QSO Party 2020 Results

In the Phone category this year, the top score of 2240 points, from 64 QSOs, was recorded by Jerry W5RJJ. Last year's phone winner, Ken VE6AFO (Chapter 151) came second this time around with 43 QSOs and 1132 points. Bryan VE3QN, operating under the Chapter 70 club call sign VE3QCW, took the third place certificate by the narrowest of margins with 181 points on 9 QSOs, one point more than the fourth-place score (Larry W1DYJ). There were 12 logs submitted in the phone category, not counting the W2MM logs. There were two operators putting the W2MM call sign on the air in the phone category. Alan W6HYD (Chapter 177) made 328 QSOs under the W2MM call sign, and Ron KX1W (Chapter 226) added another 15 W2MM QSOs.

We also had a new winner in the CW/Digital category. Gary WB2RPW (OH) made 4218 points on 57 QSOs. Second place went to Adolf OE5KE from Chapter 136 in Vienna, Austria, with 1500 points on 30 QSOs. It's good to see some activity from outside North America in the QSO Party; thanks, Adolf. The third place score was recorded by Lou K4BYN, with 374 points on 17 QSOs. None of the thirteen entrants in this category made bonus points from contacts with W2MM. The W2MM station was put on the air by Ken AB4WL (Chapter 230). Ken rang up 18 QSOs in PSK31, showing that that mode has not yet been completely replaced by the craze for FT8 and FT4.

There were six logs submitted in the Mixed category. Last year's CW winner, Buddy W4YE (Chapter 202), moved over to Mixed from CW and rang up a total of 34 QSOs for 1450 points and a first-place certificate. In second place was Mark K8ED (Chapter 215) with 25 QSOs and 708 points, and third place went to Jan K1ND (Chapter 10) with 21 QSOs for 452 points. Mike, K6ICS, operated again this year as W2MM but had difficulty this time around, with just 3 QSOs in the log.

On QSONet (CQ-100), as in the past few years there was only one log submitted, from Doug W6KE, once again with five CQ-100 QSOs, the same as last year.
