Born on 23.11.1928 in Einot, Ramat David Passed away on January 19, 2017 at the age of 89. and was buried in Ramat David Parents: Yosef and Rachel (Rochelle) Pressman Married Gila nee Cohen in 1973 Descendants: Two daughters, Shira and Ayelet, and three grandchildren Zvika was born on 23.11.1928 in Einot, Ramat David and has a brother, Amos, who is three years younger than him. As a child, Zvika worked in a vegetable garden, a cowshed and a metal workshop. At the joint school, he studied until the eleventh grade, until "Black Saturday", when he enlisted in the Emek Battalion in Ramat David. In the army, he built walkie-talkies for kibbutzim. The devices were built inside a home radio and inside a transmitter was hidden. When he returned to the kibbutz, he worked in Falha and continued this work for decades. At the same time, he pursued his hobby as a radio amateur. His love for radio began at an early age, disassembling and assembling electrical appliances. He was self-taught, and studied alone, without formal studies, and thus acquired his knowledge of electronics. At the age of 45, he married Gilo nee Cohen. Both were composed by their love of classical music. Later, the daughters Shira and Ayelet were born. Zvika set up an intercom transmitter so that Gila could hear the girls who were in the children's home, built a phone to communicate with his mother (even before there were telephones on the kibbutz) and installed an electric bicycle. Zvika built an amateur radio station through which he was able to make contact with any place in the world. Assembled the most efficient radio station in the country, and its broadcasts reached every corner of the world. Zvika was a diligent and professional workman who breathed the earth year after year. At the end of the season, he maintained the tools, repaired machines in the garage, and later repaired electrical appliances. Integrated the amateur radio in the field, while working. Through the tractor in the field, he operated the broadcasting station in the house, and talked to his friends overseas. (All this before the internet and cell phone were available). After nearly 60 years of work, he taught himself computers, disassembling and assembling the computer. Then he repaired computers for the kibbutz members as well. With his grandchildren he sat for hours and showed them movies of agricultural machinery. Zvika fell ill, was devotedly cared for by Gilo, and in the last two years of his life he went to Beit Einot for treatment. Gila arranged his room in Beit Einot while giving a home feeling to his hobbies: music, radio and video. His friend, a radio enthusiast, hooked up a walkie-talkie so he could continue communicating with his friends. Gila and the girls accompanied him every day. Gila also fell ill, and moved as a patient to Beit Einot. A week after Gilo's passing, Zvika also said goodbye to us. Zvika passed away on January 19, 2017 at the age of 89. He left behind the daughters Shira and Ayelet and three grandchildren. May his memory be blessed! A few days after Zvika's death, his brother, Amos Pressman, who had been ill in recent years, passed away. Zvika and his family were very attached to his brother and family in Moshav HaYogev. May his memory be blessed! |
