Gillean of Newark, Arkansas, departed this life on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at the age of 78. He was born December 14, 1937, in Lepanto, Arkansas, the son of Alonzo and Goldia (Porter) Gillean. Mr. Gillean retired from GDX after 30 years in Industrial Maintenance. He was a United States Army veteran. Mr. Gillean enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and was an avid outdoorsman. He was a weather spotter, and HAM Radio Operator, using the call letters AA5ZN. Mr. Gillean was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Shirley M. Gillean; one grandson, Kelly Glenn Gillean; many brothers and sisters; and his parents. He is survived by one son, Richard Gillean and wife, Pam, of Batesville; three daughters, Teresa Hobbs and husband, Don of Stephenville, Texas, Machelle Martin and husband, Mike of Dickson, Tennessee, and Tracy Myers and husband, Chris, of Newark; four brothers, Roy Sanders, Leon Sanders, Mervin Sanders, and Elmer Sanders; five sisters, Partenia Powell, Emma Hogan, Betty Roberts, Lena Harrison, and Lizzy McElroy; seven grandchildren, Kayla Myers, Ashley Martin, Sean Gillean, Josh Gillean, Thomas Toth, Cody Toth, and Wade Myers. Friends may visit at the funeral home Monday, 6:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services are 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 26, 2016, at New Life Assembly at Magness, with interment in Blue Springs Cemetery.
