Richard (Dick) MacDonald, 84, of Ft. Collins passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 21, 2016. He was the son of the late Finley and Edith MacDonald. Born on January 7, 1932 in Springfield Massachusetts, he graduated from Classical High School, then attended Bowdoin College in Maine. After serving in the U.S. Air Force from 1951-1955, he joined IBM, retiring after 26 years. He went on to do freelance consulting.

Dick had a life long interest in dramatic arts, participating in theater from grade school through college. He later was a member of The Bethany Players in Connecticut. After a long abscense from the theater he joined Bas Bleu Theater Company, working on stage production and acting. He portrayed Flaps Bennigan in the world premiere of 1940's Radio Christmas Carol.

Dick's other interests included flying, playing cards, photography, travel, amateur radio, civil rights and politics.

Survivors include his wife Rosemary, of 63 years, daughter Susan, sister Lois (Richie), daughter-in-law Melody (Jaderborg) and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Jeanne.

Dick's body was donated for scientific research.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Febuary 20, 2016 at Bas Bleu Theater Company 401 Pine St. in Ft. Collins at 2:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Bas Bleu Thearter Company or Parkinson Association Of The Rockies.
