Peter John Goudreau, age 61, of Garland, Texas passed away tragically in a motorcycle accident on July 26, 2018.
He will be remembered as a devoted and loving husband. Pete touched the lives of many people. Friends describe him as "brilliant, witty, and great to be around." He loved to spend time with his family and was always ready to listen. He tinkered with ham radio, sound systems and photography and collected cars and motorcycles.
Pete was a native Texan born on September 19, 1956 in Freeport. Pete spent a significant portion of his childhood in Berea, Ohio, from which he recounted his fondest memories. After finishing high school in Brownsville, Texas, Pete attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Physics.
Pete had a long and successful career in engineering. For the last 15 years he was a very skilled Power Field Applications Engineer with Texas Instruments. Pete held several patents in Optical Communications Technology and was on TI's Tech Ladder, a distinction given for showing exceptional technical expertise and skills. "For anything power related, Pete was the go-to guy for everyone. He provided exceptional support for many customers with a positive can do attitude. His demeanor and personality were friendly and easy-going and whenever anyone worked with Pete they expressed how helpful he was."
Pete found passion and joy in his relationship with his late wife, Linda. They met in Dallas through a mutual friend and enjoyed a long marriage. His tireless, loving devotion to her was unending, tending to her every need throughout her illness with Alzheimer's. He leaves us all with a truly beautiful example to follow.
He is survived by his brother Dr. Jeff Goudreau and wife Sally, step-son Phillip Crocker and wife Lasondra, step-daughter Claudia Holland and husband Eddie, nieces Christina, Savannah, and Melanie, nephew Alexander, grandchildren Alexandra, Stephen, and Kaley and his great granddaughter Kinlyn.
