DEEP RUN - Rajah Edward Grady, 89, passed away on Saturday, January 12, 2019. Mr. Grady retired from the United States Coast Guard as a Chief Petty Officer after 20 years of service. He moved back to Kinston and was employed with Sun Oil Company for over 20 years. He enjoyed talking with his military friends on his HAM Radio. He was preceded in death by his son, Paul Baker. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Jean E. Grady; son, David Grady; and a daughter, Ilene Larrabe. Online condolences may be expressed at www.edwardsfhc.com. This is one of the most naturally dangerous areas a Coast Guard or any ship operates in. Between the flow of the river and the tides, the bar can constantly move or change size. The Coast Guard and US Navy no longer have Radio Men. THe job is included in the Communication Technician rate, which encompuses all forms of Digital Communication.
