First Call: KAØCIR issued in 1977
Could have, would have, should have gone for my license in the early 60s while still in high school. I was too busy operating on the 11 meter band (CB). I wasn't interested in spending the time to learn the Morse code back then. As it turned out I changed my mind and was first licensed in 1977 with the call sign KA0CIR. Over the years I have been active on most HF bands. The most popular bands that I have worked and have WAS on are 6, 10, 20 & 40 meters phone, also17, 20, 30, 40 meter FT8.. I am a member of the OMISS NET, #8481, the 10x10 international, number 34937 and SMIRK 3631. If you need a card from me directly, a SASE would be nice but not necessary.
I an using a tuned dipole on 20 meters. It's strung between two palm trees and is only up about 15 feet. The rig pictured here is a Ten-Tec "Eagle" running 100 watts. I also have a hy-gain AV-18VS that I can use depending on conditions. Lastly there is a wire off center fed dipole running around the yard that I use for 80 meters and others..
Currently working on WAS for 80 meter FT8. As of March 2019 I still need Rhode Island to complete WAS. I am just getting started on 15 meter FT8 and hope this summer will be a productive year.
I have been active in the ARRL VE program since October 1984. During this time I have managed to work my way on to the ARRL Honor Roll. As of September 2019 I have over 1050 test sessions to my credit. It's a pleasure to give back to the Ham Community even in a small way.
