Mr. Grady Patterson Robinson, 94, passed away Monday, Sept 17, 2018, at his home.
He was born Oct 3, 1923, in Lancaster, a son of the late Edgar Lathan Robinson Sr and Cora Elizabeth Walkup Robinson. He was the husband of the late Nancy Craig Robinson.
Mr Robinson served our country in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a 1947 graduate of Clemson University with a degree in textiles. He retired from Springs Industries having served as plant manager for the Lancaster Plant and the Elliott Plant. He loved gardening and taking care of his yard, but his passion was HAM Radio. He tested and confirmed new people to get their radio license. He was an avid football fan, especially of Clemson, and was a member of IPTAY for over 40 years.
Mr. Robinson was a lifetime member of Shiloh ARP Church where he served in many capacities, including elder and Sunday school teacher.
Mr. Robinson is survived by a son, Craig Robinson and his wife, Shirley, of Lancaster; a daughter, Pat Shaw and her husband, Steve, of Orlando, Fla.; four grandchildren, Kevin Shaw (Lisa), Katie Wallace (Dennis), Crissy Davis (Michael) and Brandy Cranney (Brian); five great-grandchildren; a brother, Dan Robinson and his wife, Koko, of Lancaster; and a sister-in-law, Catherine Cannon of Lancaster.
Mr. Robinson was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nancy Craig Robinson; three brothers, Earl Robinson, Sam Robinson and Edgar Robinson Jr; and two sisters, Frances Robinson and Sara Caskey.
The celebration of life funeral service for Mr. Robinson will be held at 11 am Thursday, Sept 20, at Shiloh ARP Church, officiated by the Rev Mark Miller. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-7:30 pm Wednesday evening, Sept 19, at Burgess Funeral Home, and suggest memorial contributions be made to Shiloh ARP Church, 346 Shiloh Unity Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.
