Chapter 81 - West Hempstead, New York
Chartered April 4, 1975
As far as I know, Chapter 81 doesn't exist anymore. Many of the members in your roster are silent keys, but I am not the one to ask which ones. I don't even know who would know definitively.
Chapter 81 has not met in over a year. Our past two presidents are silent keys, and no one wants to step up and take over the job. In recent years, attendance at our monthly luncheon meetings had dwindled to less than ten or twelve, including XYLs. To top it off, the restaurant where we used to meet has been closed for more than a year, and no one has reopened it.
Old age takes its toll.
By the way, I have nothing to do with the web site. Moreover, I have no idea who is responsible for it, or who set it up in the first place, or who can take it down. The web site shows Marty Miller, NN2C as President, the last time I looked. Marty became a silent key four or five years ago.
I joined the Chapter about seven or eight years ago, when it was already in decline. Somewhere along the line, I was drafted as Secretary because we needed someone to write a letter to National about one of our members' 75th anniversary award.
So, that's the story as I know it.
73,
John, W2GW
