I3BLF, Venanzio "Jack" Mior, a member of FOC and other clubs, passed May 30th 2017 at the age of 91.

FOC describes him as "a keen CW operator since the 1950s, when Trieste was a DXCC entity."

IV3EAD says Jack introduced the Field Day contest to Italy in the 1980s and was very active in CW DXing over the decades.

From collegue Fabio:

With much sadness and late delays, the FOC community became aware of the disappearance of a dear friend. Venanzio Mior IV3BLF (or Jack I3BLF as he wanted to go out on the radio ...) left us last May.

Long-running OM, very active and experienced CW operator, was part of the FOC for many years and was the first of the Italians (# 1286).

Very appreciated in the States, it was almost always in 20m.

He had no internet and the only way to contact him, apart from the radio, was the phone. We often felt it until a couple of years ago, then more and more rarely.

RIP Jack
