Gary was first licensed in 1966 and now holds an extra class license and a General Radiotelephone Operators license.

He has worked in the communications field for most of his adult life and is a retired Central Office Supervisor for Alltel in Bolivar.

Gary helped form the Lakes Area Amateur Radio Association and has been active in building and maintaining the club's 147.06 repeater, with a link into the Kansas City area.

He has been an officer in other clubs, a founder and first President of a Bolivar Races unit, a teacher of several ham classes, and an ARRL Volunteer Examiner since the inception of the VE program. Gary has served as Director, Vice President and President of the QCWA.

Gary and his wife Carolyn, WBØOUM, spend much of their vacations attending major ham conventions.
