Peter William Dahl, 71, passed away Aug. 15 in El Paso, TX after a lengthy illness. Peter was a proud native Minnesotan who was born and raised in Edina.
He graduated from Edina High School and the University of Minnesota in Electrical Engineering. Shortly after his graduation from college, Peter joined Honeywell. In 1966, he and new wife Clarice were transferred to El Paso, where he designed and tested guidance systems for Redstone and other rocket systems at White Sands Missile Base. Peter managed drone and guidance system programs for Atlantic Research and others for Army and space exploration programs.
Peter then devoted full time to his fast growing business, Peter W. Dahl Co, which combined his love of amateur radio (KØBIT), electronics and design. He grew a successful company designing and building custom transformers for military and commercial customers before retiring. Peter was a lifetime Gophers, Vikings and Lakers fan, never losing his boyhood love of the Minneapolis Lakers. During his years in El Paso, he was President of the SERTOMA Club, active in the Masons, Shrine and Scottish Rite, President of El Paso Country Club and was active in other community service.
He loved golf, HAM radio, Gopher sports and his life-long Minnesota relationships.
