Mary Coen Hadley, 89, came to the end of her life's journey July 23, 2013. She was born July 19, 1924, in Veazie, daughter of Martin H. Coen and Effie (Hersey) Coen.
Mary graduated from John Bapst High School, class of 1942. After graduation, Mary worked for many years as a bartender. She was a member of Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and was a past worthy matron of Order of Eastern Star, Tuscan No. 148. Mary was also quite proud of her talents as a Ham Radio operator, her handle being K1ADY.
In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased by her husband of many years, Edwin W. Hadley W1EXD; and siblings, Margaret Van Aiken, Helen (Coen) Russell and John Coen.
She is survived by her daughter, Margaret Galietta and husband, Tony, of Saco; daughter, Mary Ann Howse of Escondido, Calif; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews, including special niece and nephew, Thomas and Sheila Torrey; and special friends and neighbors, Mark, Amy, Noah and Asia Dube.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday, July 26, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Theresa Catholic Church, 425 South Main St., Brewer.
Interment will be private at Maine Veteran's Cemetery, Augusta.
