Edward N. Franco, Sr, 85, of Windsor, beloved husband of Lena (Lombardo) Franco, died Monday, February 25, 2002 at Hartford Hospital. Born in Hartford, son of the late Pasquale and Mary (Rytel) Franco, he lived in Hartford before moving to Windsor 31 years ago.
Before retiring, he was employed by both Fuller Brush Co. for 35 years and the US Post Office for 20 plus years. After he retired, he worked as a school crossing guard for John F. Kennedy School for 16 years. He was a parishioner of St. Gertrude Church, Windsor, an amateur radio operator with pin name, ``KISVH,ยดยด a member of Civil Defense in Windsor and a member of the Windsor Lodge of Elks #2060.
Besides his wife, Lena, he is survived by a son and his wife, Edward and Lois Franco, Jr, of Bradford, VT; a daughter and her husband, Laura and Alan Jeppesen of East Hampton; a son and his wife, Steve and Cathy Franco of Southington; a son and his wife, Barry and Ann Franco of Goose Creek, SC; a daughter and her husband, Lisa and David Farrell of Windsor; a sister and her husband, Marie and Edward McIntyre of El Paso, TX; and nine grandchildren.
Family and friends may gather Thursday, 9:15 am, at the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave, Windsor, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Gertrude Church, 550 Matianuck Ave, Windsor, 10 am Burial will be in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. His family will receive friends Wednesday, 6-8 pm, at the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Windsor Volunteer Ambulance, PO Box 508, Windsor, CT 06095.
