Chapter 29
K2UPI - Kenneth F. 'Ken' Blume

Hello: KN2UPI was my original call, issued in 1956, one year prior to the creation of the UPI News Service. (very nice of them to provide me with phonetics).smiley Over the years I have taken side trips to other areas of interest including sport aviation, historical aircraft restoration, hunting and fishing but always seem to find my way back to ham radio. Presently I enjoy preserving the heritage of our wonderful hobby by restoring and operating American made vacuum tube (hollow state) equipment.

When on the air you can usually find me QSO'ing on the popular AM phone frequencies, or the Antique Wireless Assoc. nets, in the AM or SSB modes. Of course I always find pleasure in having a good CW ragchew. Operating bands are 160-10 meters, including VHF/UHF, but tend to spend most of my time on 20,40 and 80 meters.

If you would like to visit my Web Album click on the QRZ Detail box and scroll down to Web Page .....or go to http://picasaweb.google.com/k2upi1957. Just click on a photo to enlarge and use the side arrows to advance or reverse. Full screen slide show and magnify features are available laugh

73 for now,
Ken / K2UPI

Ken K2UPI brought in a recent acquisition for his radio collection, an Eldico EE3 electronic keyer from 1959. This rare bird, made in Mineola LI, NY, was originally presented to area ham Harry Shepard by Eldico for unknown reasons, and is serial number 001.
