LEMOYNE John L. Contino, 88, passed from this life to life eternal on November 26, 2011. John was born in York, on March 10, 1923, to Rosi and Pasqua Contino. He was a very caring and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a pilot in WWII for the Army Air Corps, flying a C47 while stationed in Italy. He flew supplies and troops into North Africa. He also completed secret missions for the Partisans in Yugoslavia. He was a Life Member of The VFW and a member of the American Legion. He was a graduate of William Penn High School's fabulous class of 1941. He received his Bachelors of Science in Education from Shippensburg University in 1947. He also attended the University of Akron while an Aviation Cadet. Other educational successes include: Mt. Vernon School of Law, Baltimore, Md.; MS Equivalency by PA Department of Education from Millersville University; and a Graduate of Layne's School of Watchmaking, Malden MO. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Pauline Barham Contino and son, Jeffery B. Contino. Surviving family members are daughter, Georgia and son-in-law, Duncan McArthur, Jr. of Lemoyne; son, R. John Contino and his wife, Kathy; grandson, James, of Edgewater, Fla.; sister, Rose Hunter of New Jersey; brother, James Contino of York; grandson, Duncan McArthur, III, wife, Tammy and great-granddaughters, Kayla and Kandace of Lemoyne; granddaughter, Heather Nardillo and husband, Matt, and great-grandsons, MJ and Wesley of New Jersey; granddaughter, Tiffany Bogden and husband, Chris and great-grandson, Dane, of Lemoyne; and granddaughter, Raegan Zittle of York. Services will be provided by John W. Keffer Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc., York. Graveside services will be at Holy Saviour Cemetery, 3490 Susquehanna Trail, York, at 11 a.m. Thursday. A Flag Folding and presentation of Tapps will be provided by the York County Veterans Honorguard. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Pinnacle Hospice, 2645 N.
