Age 84 Son of Harry G. and Anna L. (Reynolds) Metzner.Husband of Mary Ann Metzner. Father of Gary H. Metzner (predeceased), Roland H. Metzner II, Philip N. Metzner, and Robert D. Metzner. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. He worked for Brown Thawley in Milford for 31 years as a parts manager and salesman of farm machinery as well as a car salesman, selling Chryslers and Plymouths. He also worked as plant manager for Kirby & Holloway Provision Company in Harrington for 12 years before retiring in 1988. He was a member of the Greenwood V.F.W. and was a Ham Radio Operator K3RM Extra Class. For many years, he was a part of MARS NET, a group that would traffic messages for service men to their families. He was a member of both the Milford and Frederica Senior Centers; played tenor banjo in the Back Bay Strummers Band, was an avid gardener and a handyman. He also enjoyed watching movies, especially westerns. |
