He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. He worked for Brown Thawley in Milford for 31 years as a parts manager and salesman of farm machinery as well as a car salesman, selling Chryslers and Plymouths. He also worked as plant manager for Kirby & Holloway Provision Company in Harrington for 12 years before retiring in 1988. He was a member of the Greenwood V.F.W. and was a Ham Radio Operator K3RM Extra Class. For many years, he was a part of MARS NET, a group that would traffic messages for service men to their families. He was a member of both the Milford and Frederica Senior Centers; played tenor banjo in the Back Bay Strummers Band, was an avid gardener and a handyman. He also enjoyed watching movies, especially westerns.
