Frederick Melvin Ball, 68, of Memphis, retired transportation manager for International Harvester, died Tuesday, July 7, at St. Francis Hospital after a short illness. Burial at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery. He was a graduate of the University of Arkansas, a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church, a 30 year volunteer for the Boy Scouts of America and a scout leader for Troop 40 at St. Luke's Church. He was a World War II Army veteran, having served in the 36th Infantry Division. Mr. Ball, the husband of Barbara L. Ball, also leaves a daughter, Ellen Ball White of Waldwick, NJ; a son, Melvin Scott Ball of Houston, TX; his mother, Elzada Mae Ball, and a sister, Maxine Ball Dark, both of Hardy, AR and nine grandchildren.
