Jerome W. "Joe" Starken, 85, formerly of Oak Ridge, passed away Sunday morning in Madison, Tenn.He was a member of Robertsville Baptist Church and also had been adopted by City Road United Methodist Chapel while living with his daughter in Madison.Mr. Starken was preceded in death by wife, Norma Jean Starken, July 10, 1991.He retired June 30, 1992, after 37 years as an electrical engineer with the Martin Marietta energy department at K-25. He is survived by his daughter, Diane Brannom and husband, Dr. Michael Brannom, Madison; brother, George Starken of Chestertown, Md.; sisters, Nancy Sanderson and Sandra Rettmer, both of Tracy, Minn.; a granddaughter, Lori Michelle Parris and husband, Stephen, and great-granddaughter, Stephanie Michelle Parris, all of Bristol, Va. The funeral service will be held in the chapel of Weatherford Mortuary, Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007 at 8 p.m. with Dr. Michael Prince officiating. Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, 10 a.m., at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family wishes that contributions be made in the form of donations to the youth of Robertsville Baptist Church, 251 Robertsville Rd., Oak Ridge, TN 37830.
