September 19, 2012 Chattanooga Times Free Press Arthur William "Bill" Lawson Jr., of Chattanooga, TN, passed away Friday, September 14, 2012. He was the son of the late Arthur Lawson Sr. and Wynona Haymore Lawson. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II at the age of 18. He served in the Battles of Iwo Jima and Okinawa as a U.S. Navy radio operator. After the war he continued his radio skills as a Ham radio operator with the call sign of K4IOP. He also worked as an Industrial X-ray Technician. Survivors include a son and a grandson, both of Chattanooga, TN. Graveside memorial services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Chattanooga National Cemetery with Father Moises Moreno Officiating. Mr. Lawson will receive Military Honors. The family will receive friends from noon until 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Arrangements are by Hamilton Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 4506 Hixson Pike, Hixson, TN. |
