Daily DX today K4JRB (ex K5MDX), David L. Thompson, of Norcross, Georgia passed away yesterday. He was first licensed in 1957. Dave enjoyed working DX and contests and had 340/379 (current/total) confirmed in the ARRL DXCC Mixed Standings. He was a top notch SSB Contest operator winning the US for the ARRL SS SSB (twice), ARRL DX SSB (twice) and CW SS DX SSB (twice). Over the years he gave back to the hobby in many ways including stints as CQ 160 Meter Contest Director, Assistant ARRL Director of two different Divisions for a total of 25 years and was the ARRL SE Division DXAC member between 2010 and early 2018. He was a Life Member of the ARRL, also belonged to SECC, SEDXC and QCWA. Our condolences to his wife Jean and the Thompson family. |
