Mr. Raeford Douglas Everhart, age 81, of Lexington, NC died Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at Forsyth Regional Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
A funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM Sunday, April 10, 2022, in the Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel conducted by the Rev. Billy Pearson.
Burial will follow at Holloways Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will see friends from 2:30 until 4:00 PM Sunday at Davidson Funeral Home. Mr. Everhart was born February 11, 1941, in Davidson County to William Franklin Everhart and Edith Elizabeth Penniger Everhart. He had been employed as a Telecommunicator with the Lexington Police Department. He was an avid Amateur Radio Operator for 65 years and a member of the Healing Springs Mountain VHF Society. He had been an ARRL Regional Section Manager for North Carolina and a life member of QCWA. Mr. Everhart was a member of Second Reformed United Church of Christ. He was married to Rilda Hughes Everhart, who died in October 2021. He was an avid University of North Carolina sports fan.
He is survived by his son, Doug Everhart and friend Shannon Jarrett; brother, Kenneth Everhart and wife Margaret of Lexington; sisters, Hilda Forrest of Lexington and Janet Wilson of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Andrea Rothrock and husband Justin, Kasey Everhart and Emilee Everhart; and great-grandchildren, Jeb and Josie Rothrock and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Charles and Cathy Byrd of Charlotte, NC.
