Services celebrating the life of Fred L. Townsend will be held on Friday, January 11, 2013 at 11:00am.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 10, 2013 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.
Both Services and Visitation will be held at Rose-Neath Funeral Home on Marshall Street in Shreveport, LA. Interment will follow at Forest Park West Cemetery.
Fred passed away peacefully on January 8, 2013, surrounded by his loving family.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Fred L. Townsend Sr. and Fay Steele Townsend, and son, Lamar N. Townsend, all of Shreveport, LA. He is survived by; his wife, Sandra S. Townsend, of Shreveport, LA, their son, Lloyd F. Townsend and wife, Tamra of Frisco, TX, his daughter, Karen M. Bush and husband, Doug, his grandchildren Steven Bush and Shelby Bush, both of Shreveport, LA, and Madison Smith of Frisco, TX, and his brother, Ralph Townsend, of Austin, TX. Fred was born on February 5, 1926 in Shreveport, LA.
He was a WWII Veteran serving in the Pacific Theater. After serving in the Navy, he worked for Pennzoil, retiring after 36 years. During retirement, his hobbies included computers, ham radios, and personal finance.
In addition to his hobbies, his most cherished and rewarding pastime was time spent with family, specifically his grandchildren. He spoiled his grandchildren with his undying attention, love, knowledge, and affection. Fred was a devoted Christian, husband, father and PawPaw and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Honoring Mr. Townsend as pallbearers will be Steven Bush, David Townsend, Dr. Scott Taylor, Bill Person, Doug Bland, and C.R. McPherson.
