First Call: K5IWN in 1960
Our beloved father, grandfather, and friend, Ralph C. Householder, Jr. passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2009, surrounded by devoted family after battling a short illness at the age of 79. Lake Ridge Chapel will host a service of celebration at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 1, 2009 to honor his life. Family and friends will gather to share in conversation immediately following the service.
Ralph, Jr. was born on November 4, 1929, in Memphis, Texas to Ralph C. Householder and Drusilla Herrington Householder. He served in the United States Navy from July 1947 through July 1950 on the USS Salisbury Sound. He married the former Luella Brown on January 19, 1952, in Amarillo. Ralph owned and operated Ralph Householder Printing in downtown Lubbock until he retired. He enjoyed his passion of private aviation, and loved flying his plane and congregating with fellow pilots. He also enjoyed spending time as a HAM radio operator. Ralph never met a stranger and made friends everywhere. He was especially proud of his two children and their families and loved to tell stories about them. He also loved his dogs Libby, Abigail, and Mack. He will best be remembered for his witty sense of humor and loving heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his older brother, Norris; and wife of 43 years, Lu.
He is survived by his daughter, Melinda Osburn and spouse Zack of Paducah; a son, Russell Householder and spouse Becky of Lubbock; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and numerous other relatives.
