Earl Shinn Jr., 86, of Huntsville died July 27, 2007, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. He was born April 25, 1921, at St. Paul, the son of Clement Earl Shinn and Jewell Mabel White Shinn.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Force and retired from Carroll Electric Cooperative in 1983 as an area manager.

He was a member of the Huntsville First Presbyterian Church, Hays-Smith Post No. 137, American Legion, the Democratic Central Committee for 50 years serving as secretary, Madison County Tax Equalization Board. He had been an amateur radio operator for more than 50 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Vera E. Reed Shinn to whom he was married on May 10, 1947. She died Jan. 19, 2006.

Survivors include his son Mikel R. Shinn of Conway; one brother, Gene W. Shinn of Huntsville, two grandsons and one granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in the chapel of Brashears Funeral Home with the Rev. Georgia Senior officiating. Interment will be in the Huntsville Cemetery under the direction of the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Austin Shinn, Nathan Shinn, Kevin Shinn, Jeremy Shinn, Andy Sills and Adam Wade.

Visitation will be 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with the family present.
