WALNUT COVE, NC ~ Donald Lee Buck, 89, went home to be with the Lord early Wednesday morning, February 20, 2019, at Trellis Supportive Care.
Donald was born on July 10, 1929, in Stidham, OK, to the late Robert Lee and Ethel Smith Buck. He relocated from Wichita Falls, OK, to Walnut Cove in 1996. He was a member of First Baptist Church where he worked in the children.s Sunday School Dept. for 18 years.
Donald was a retired broadcast engineer for NBC in Wichita Falls and retired in 1991 from PPG after 16 years of service. He was an amateur radio operator for over 50 years and was a member of the American Radio Relay League (AARL).
Donald also coached little league basketball and baseball.
In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years and 11 months, Billie Jean Rose Buck; and a brother, Eddie Buck.
Donald is survived by his two children: Karen Zeigler (Mike) of Walnut Cove and David Buck (Carolyn) of San Diego, CA; five grandchildren: Megan Price Yedlicka (Mike), Philip Price (Brittany), Bobby Zeigler, Jordan Zeigler, and Cory Buck; two great-grandchildren: Zane Yedlicka and Evan Yedlicka; brother, Danny Buck (Virginia); and a sister in law, Dolores Buck.
There will be a 1:00 pm graveside service held on Monday, February 25, 2019, at First Baptist Church of Walnut Cove Cemetery with Pastor Jim Cohn officiating.
The family will greet friends following the service.
