Funeral: 9:30 a.m. Saturday in Greenwood Chapel. Burial: Aledo Cemetery. Pallbearers: Carol Detherage, Steve Hill, Sam McKinzie, Jim Stavens, Joe Stewart and Ray Whisenant. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Lena Pope Home Foster Care Program, 3131 Sanguinet, Fort Worth, Texas 76107. Dr. Mitchell felt privileged to have been associated with Lena Pope Home during his career. Dr. Mitchell was born Aug. 13, 1921, in Fort Worth. He graduated from Paschal High School. He also graduated from Texas A&M School of Veterinary Medicine in 1947 and Tulane Medical School in 1951 where he received his medical degree in ophthalmology. Dr. Mitchell was a member of Center Point Baptist Church in Aledo and the Tarrant County Retired Doctors Association. The Mitchell family would like to express their sincere thanks to Bill Holmesley of Renaissance Care Center for the love and kindness that he showed our father during his illness. We are also grateful to Vitas Hospice for their support. Dr. Mitchell was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Mitchell. Survivors: Wife of 59 years, Ruth Hudson Mitchell of Aledo; daughter, Sherry Walter of Fort Worth; son, William Mitchell and wife, Lois Ann, of Aledo; grandchildren, Rachel Lee Walter and Mikayla Ann Mitchell; and nephews, Jim Hill, Raylan Hill and Steve Hill.
