Hubert "Stan" Crain
Hubert Standlee Crain (Stan), 78, of China Spring, passed away Thursday, November 29th at his residence.
Visitation: 6 to 8PM Monday, December 3rd at Lake Shore Funeral Home.
A funeral procession will leave Lake Shore Funeral Home at 9:20AM for a graveside service at 10AM Tuesday, December 4th at Waco Memorial Park, followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 11AM at China Spring United Methodist Church. For those attending, please wear patriotic colors. For public servants, please wear your uniform. Thank you- The Family.
Stan was born May 1, 1940 in Fort Worth to Rev. Hubert and Alice (Hays) Crain. He attended schools in Stephenville where he enjoyed his time in the band. He proudly joined the Navy and served on the USS Forrestal during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Stan married Jeri Ann Prestwich on Valentineâs Day, 1973 in Waco. During his lifetime he served as an Amateur Radio Operator, member of the Military Auxiliary System (MARS), dedicated member of the TX-1 DMAT team, Storm Spotter/Chaser, volunteer soccer coach with HOT Soccer, Paramedic with McGregor EMS, Crawford EMS, and Firefighter/Paramedic with the China Spring Volunteer Fire Department. For almost 30 years Stan and Jeri taught Sunday School at the First United Methodist Church of Waco where he loved to hand out tootsie rolls to kids and became known as the tootsie roll man. He later worked in the nursery and in audio/recording at China Spring United Methodist Church, where he was a member. He retired as an electronic technician, engineering assistant after 33 years of service with Brazos Electric Coop and found his new passion for serving others as a paramedic. He loved helping others and enjoyed working Friday night football games with Crawford EMS.
Stan loved communicating with people from all around the world as a HAM radio operator. He was an avid storm chaser and loved looking to the sky, whether to enjoy a colorful sunset or to admire Godâs clouds- he found so much joy in the gifts he was provided. He had a servantâs heart and helped so many people that were in need. As a paramedic he was always running to help, even in his retirement years, he never slowed down. His passion was to serve and to do so with a heart of gold. He will be dearly missed.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeri Ann Crain; son, Mark William Crain; father, Rev. Hubert William Crain; mother, Alice Crain; and grandson, Jacob Crain.
Survivors include his son, Michael Crain and wife, Kimberly of Allen; daughter, Melissa Donoso and husband, Tony of China Spring; grandson, Michael Donoso and granddaughter, Makayla Donoso, both of China Spring; granddaughters, Hope, Hannah,Faith, Katelyn Crain and grandson Matthew Crain of Allen; grandsons, Adam and Anthony Donoso III and granddaughters, Audrey and Courtney Donoso, all of China Spring; granddaughter Alyssa Hernandez of Copperas Cove; sister, Alice Elaine Mastello and husband, Al of Fort Worth; sister, Evelyn Fae Bosworth and husband, Mel of Des Moines,IA.
