Leslie E. Galligan, age 84, of Council Bluffs, passed away at his residence on Monday, June 20, 2011. He was born in Port Neches, Texas, to the late Leslie Galligan and Antonia Weise. Leslie served in the US Army during World War II, receiving Decorations and Citations of Victory Medal, American African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon, Army of Occupation in Germany Medal, Good Conduct Medal and Distinguished Unit Badge. Leslie attended Findley Engineering College in Kansas City, Mo. He married Georgene Sedlacek on October 24, 1947. Leslie was employed by Hydril Company where he held various positions including Plant Manager of the Harvey, La., Tubular Threading Facility; Tubular Regional Sales Manager of Australia/Asia based in Singapore and Regional Sales Manager Tubular Products in London, England. After returning to the U.S. he held the position of Eastern Division Sales Manager until retiring in August of 1985. Leslie was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mildred Vandermast. He is survived by his wife, Georgene Galligan, of Council Bluffs; 2 daughters, Peggy and Philip Robertson, of Acworth, Ga., Marcy and Bert Wood, of Council Bluffs; 4 grandchildren, Rachel and Adam Birnley, of Council Bluffs, Philip and Andrea Robertson, of Nashville, Tenn., Heather and Bryan Burnett, of Milwaukee, Wis., and Molly and Stephen McCullers, of Gainesville, Fla.; 10 great grandchildren. No Visitation. Body has been cremated. Private family services. |
